2014 Major Events

2014 was a massively successful year in terms of our events.

In May we organised 'Wan big Weekend' which was staged  over the first Bank Holiday weekend in our temporarily erected Marquee.  Four different events took place which were:

1. A Question of Sport

2. Youth tournament at our Tobin Park pitch

3. Moortowns 'Half' Monty

4. Big Bingo

For the first event (Question of Sport) we had two teams consisting of local and national celebrities such as Mark Lawrenson, Marty Morrisey, Martin Rogan, Willie Anderson, Owen Mulligan, Frank McGuigan & John Joe O'Neil. Compare for the night was Jarlath Burns. This event was enjoyed by everyone present and was the perfect way to start our Weekends entertainment.

Next up was the very successful youth football tournament held on the Saturday afternoon and then on the Saturday night it was time for the cast of 'Moortown GACs Half Monty' to strut their stuff. The event was a sell out and again enjoyed by everyone present.

On the Sunday afternoon the final event was held, 'The Big Bingo'. Again another packed Marquee and one lucky punter walked away with the £1500 prize. This was the perfect way to wind down the weekend.

'Wan big Weekend' was a huge success and we would like to thank the organisers for their many months of endless work in preparation for the event and for their effort during it. This was by no means an easy task and we would also like to thank everyone who helped out in anyway, bought tickets, the businesses who sponsored and the celebrities who came to make 'A Question of Sport' such a success.

A timelapse video of the event from start to finish is available to view below.

Our next major event was our Golf Fundraiser which was held at Killymoon Golf Course on July 11th. Again this event was a success and very well organised. We would like to thank Killymoon Golf Course for their hospitality and to those who helped run and organise the event as well as all those who participated.

Next up it was the turn of the Panto cast and crew of our Alice in Wonderland production which was directed by Brian Morgan.

To say a lot of work went into this would be an understatement. Plans for this event were put in place as early as May and rehearsals started at the end of June.

For many months the cast and crew along with director Brian met as many as up to 3-4 nights per week to make sure the production would be a major success and at the end all this hard work paid off.

The show ran two matinees and three nights in Ardboe Parish Hall and was attended by people of all age groups at the beginning of December.

We would like to thank absolutely everyone involved and who helped out in any way as well as all those who bought tickets and attended the shows. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to all the parents who helped by dropping their children off and collecting them again at rehearsals each night.

A DVD of the show is available to purchase now. Please have a look at the slideshow below that shows photographic highlights of the event.
